Q: Why an Australian Shepherd?
A: Australian Shepherds are truly versatile breed.  Not only are they agile working dogs, they are also extremely
intelligent animals and wonderful family companions.

Q: What are the different colors?
A: There are Blue Merle, Red Merle, Black Tri & Red Tri.

Q: What are the different sizes?
A: There are Standards, Minis & Toy.

Q: How big are minis?
A: They are 14 to 17 and 20 to 30 lbs.

Q: How big are toys?
A: They are 12 to 13.7 and 13 to 20 lbs.

Q: Why is it so important to buy a puppy from breeders who health screens their breeding dogs?
A: No body wants to get a puppy, love it and accept it as a family member, and 5 years down the road they develop these crippling diseases, they are in pain and no longer do what they used to do, and eventually have to be put to sleep.  Healths screening the parents dogs help dramatically reduce the chance of their puppies developing  these genetic diseases.

Q: Are these dogs Registered?
A: Yes. They are registered through National Stock Dog  Registry.

Q: What is National Stock Dog?
A: National Stock Dog has been around since 1956 and was the first registry to recognize and register the Miniature Australians.

Q: Why are the puppies little Dew Claws removed?
A: The little Dew Claws will not stay little, they grow  just as big as the dog's other toes, & the nail tends to grow long & they curl, if not kept trimmed they grow back into the dog's foot, not only that but the Dew claws stick
out there & if your adult dog ever snags that adult dew claw on something & rips it, that is very painful for the
dog & it will bleed very bad, all over where ever the dog is. It is safe & painless to the puppy to have it done at the age of 1-3 days, compared to an adult dog having it's Dew Claw Ripped off.

Q: Are Australian Shepherds good with children?
A: Australians Shepherds are good with children.  One basic prerequisite is to teach children and puppies what is allowed.

Q: Isn't shipping hard on the puppies?
A: The toughest part for the puppy is the fact that they will be alone for the first time in their life. They are
flown only in Pressure & Temperature Controlled Cargo Departments, & they arrive same day.  We will ship a puppy if there is not other alternative for you, we prefer to NOT ship our babies, mostly because it is hard for ME to put them on a plane, it is easier for me, if YOU pick them up & I get to see you cuddle, & hold the puppy as you
drive off.. Sorry I love these babies, & it is just hard for me..

Q: So Male or Female?
A:  There is NO difference between a Male or Female assuies, as long as you have them altered (spayed or
neutered). Males will not have the desire to hike their legs & "mark" their territory if they are neutered.

Q: Do you require your dogs to be spayed or neutered?
A: Yes,,  Our puppies are sold with spay neuter contracts. Breeding rights may be purchased at an additional price. This is to protect the health of the dog, this is simply medical, if you do not plan on breeding your dog, it is
ALWAYS BEST to have them altered, especially for the females, when females go through heat cycles with out
having puppies, it greatly increases their chances of cancer.

Q: Do you Ship?
A: Yes! We will ship a puppy if you are not able to find a puppy closer to you & we are your ONLY chance to get a puppy that you want, we really prefer to NOT ship  our babies, it is safe, but we prefer NOT to.. We prefer you to pick the puppy , this gives us a chance to meet each other in person, gives you a chance to meet the parents, & see where your puppy was born & has lived during her life so far.

Q: How long do you keep your puppies before I can bring them home??
A:  8 weeks.

Q: Are Australian Shepherds easy to train?
A: Australian Shepherds are an easy dog to train.  Being a working stock dog they have been bred to learn to take
directions and listen to there owners.

Q: Are Australian Shepherds good with children?
A: Australians Shepherds are good with children.  One basic prerequisite is to teach children and puppies what is allowed.

Q: Do they shed much? How much grooming is required?
A: The Miniature Australian Shepherd wears a moderately thick double coat. The undercoat is shed twice yearly and shedding is moderate between these periods, although degree will vary with individual. Regular brushing once or twice a week will help to minimize shedding and keep the skin and coat healthy. The mini Aussies coat is not long enough to require heavy daily attention

Q: What does it mean when people say Aussies need a job?
A:  They need a job to do, whether that job is working livestock, protecting the family, or going to obedience/ agility classes.  They need to be a member of the family.

Q: Why do you breed Australian Shepherds?
A: I got into breeding Assuies after growing up with one, I loved everything about him.  They have wonderful
temperaments

Q: I live in a city neighborhood, but I walk my dogs everyday, is a Mini Aussie Right for me?
A: This is a tough question to answer because people do not realize the natural born drive that Aussies (Mini or Standard) have to work, it is so deeply bred into them for many many years that a City home is usually not the best home for an Aussie, they will become mentally unbalanced dogs & will become very destructive, & drive their owners completely insane.

Q: So what is the best type of home for an Aussie?
A: A home where the aussie can get out & let lose, run far & fast, a home that has a "Job" for the aussie will be best, they are natural born herding dogs, they will try to herd anything, cats, ducks, kids, sheep, cattle, anything that moves. If you have a job for your aussie they will be a mentally balanced dog & will make for a much happier pet. Agility is a wonderful outlet for aussies, it stimulates their mind & body.

Q: What is Micro Chipping?
A: Micro Chipping is the best way to have your dog returned Safely home to you in the sad case that he gets
lost.  Micro Chips are injected into your dog usually at the back of his neck. The chips are entered into a
nationwide data base so if your dog ever shows up at a shelter they are required by law to scan every dog that
comes in, & that Chip will be detected with your name, address, & phone number so that your dog will be returned to you.  Micro chips are about the size of a grain of  rice, they are not noticed by you or the dog. Safe & very effective.
